If you have a mailing list of 1000 email address. probably 200 people are going to click or respond to your email, i.e. buy your product. So if you are me and you have less than 100 email addresses you're probably only going to have 20 or less engaged subscribers. That's only 20 people who might click on your link or buy your product. So the most important thing is to have as many email addresses on your list as possible. Subscribers are people who are interested in what you are offering, but more than that they have opted in to hear more. That counts for a lot.
It's a patience game but it's completely worth it in the long run. The stronger your list, the stronger your engagement. The real question is how to get people onto your list. So here's how to start;
1. Website Lead Page
Don't know what a lead page is? It's basically a pop up page that invites people visiting your website to join your mailing list. It's essential.
2. Sign Up Forms
Sign up forms should be on every page of your website and every blog post.
3. A Giveaway
It's always good to have something to offer. Perhaps a free book?
4. A Sign Up Link
Links are essential. They should be everywhere. On your Facebook About section, same with Twitter, your Amazon Author Page, The About Section on your book, in the front of your book, in the back of your book. Everywhere.
5. Frequent Reminders
I tend to find it helps to have a sign up button on your facebook page. As well as that, regular reminder status updates and tweets. Keep it rolling and don't let it drop.
