1. Reading Too Fast
Sometimes I miss details because I'm reading far too quickly and then I have to go back and re-read a chunk. What's even funnier is when I'm tired I sometimes forget what I've read and then I have to read masses again - like whole chapters.
3. Dog Ear'in The Page
I rarely bother to read real books any more and that's another topic for another post but when I do I have a habit of folding the corner. It's bad practice. Plenty of people will tell you it's disrespectful to the book.
5. Reading Out Loud
I'm not a naturally quiet person and sometimes when I read that slightly louder side comes out. I tend to read the dialogue out loud. It's like I have a literal conversation with the characters.
7. Skipping Bits
I get a bit impatient during the slower bits in the books I read. I tend to skip big descriptive paragraphs to get back to the dialogue. You might have guessed, I love a good bit of dialogue. I've even been known to read the last page first. I read the epilogue of HP7 before I was half way through.
9. Going Cray Cray On Kindle Unlimited
I sit on amazon and download book after book on Kindle Unlimited and then I read them all in one go. There's no limit, or at least there wouldn't be if I had a choice.
2. Checking How Much Is Left
When I'm reading on my Kindle App I have the terrible habit of checking how much of my current chapter is left and when I get towards the end of the book I get a bit ridiculous with all the checking... 91%... 92%... if it gave me smaller increments I'd be chuffed.
4. Reading During Parties
I probably shouldn't admit this but I sometimes read books on my phone when I'm supposed to be doing other things. I've even read books during house parties. Other people say they excuse themselves to the bathroom to check their phone, I go to read a book. My idea of a great party is a reading party where we all sit in silence and read... does that make me a bit of a geek?
6. Breaking The Spine
A lot of readers will tell you the worse thing you can do to a book is break it's spine. It makes me feel guilty but I almost always break the spine of the books I read. It's part of the reason I try not to read real books any more.
8. Reading Instead Of Sleeping
I don't stop reading until a book is done and sometimes that means I don't sleep. Sometimes I start new books straight away, meaning even less sleep. I can't even say I regret it. I need sleep but I need to read more. I love sleeping but I love reading more.
10. Can't Put A Bad Book Down
Once I've started reading a book I can't put it down. It doesn't matter if it's a good or bad book, I have to finish it. I need to know how it ends. I can count the books I've put down without finishing on less than one hand.
