I'm sat watching the news in my living room and it hurts to see how much hatred can kill, how much unkindness can destroy, how much intolerance can erase the things we love most in the world. So here is my response:
I'm human. You're human. When you hurt, I hurt. When you cry, I cry. When you mourn, I mourn. That's the joy of humanity. I'm not perfect, but neither are you. I'm not alone, I've got you. You're not alone, I'm there too. When they cut you, they may as well cut me. When you're attacked, I'll help you heal. When I'm attacked, I know you'll defend me. I trust the humanity in you. When they steal your home, I'll give you mine. When they take your family, I'll call you brother... sister... mother... father. When they pilfer your friends, you can call me friend. When they try to take your freedom, when they try to enforce their ways on you, when they try to remove your uniqueness, I will stand up with you in solidarity and brotherhood. They will control us - we will still love because that's what humanity is.
My heart goes out to all those in Brussels, especially those who have lost someone they love and those who have been hurt in the attacks.
