As an adult, it felt like everything I did that didn't fit in with everyone's expectation of me, was some sort of rebellion, not that I necessarily wanted to rebel. I didn't tell my family when I got a tattoo for almost six months and even when they did find out, it wasn't because I told them.
Like I said in the blurb for Broken Rules; other peoples' expectations of us can either make us or break us. It can be a heck of a lot of pressure to carry. So for me, Rules is all about realising that no matter who we are, no matter what sort of family we come from, we make rules for ourselves, social norms. And sometimes our rules clash with the rules of the people around us.
It's about realising that although we all have rules, sometimes people, especially the people we love are 100% worth breaking the rules. Love is always worth the risk. So there you have it. Now you know what gave me the idea to write Rules... If you haven't already read it, check it out in the amazon store. It's free for one week only!
