Author: Deborah Bladon
Self Published
Release Date: 17th April 2016
Synopsis: Burn is the first part of HEAT, a four-part novella series from New York Times and USA Today
bestselling author, Deborah Bladon. Landing a job at Manhattan's trendiest restaurant is everything Cadence Sutton wants. After leaving her ex-boyfriend behind, she's ready to focus on her career and Nova is the place to do that. Tyler Monroe is the chef of the moment. Everyone wants a piece of him and when he returns to New York City following his successful book tour, he's eager to take over the day-to-day operations of his restaurant. Cadence knows the complications that come with mixing business with pleasure, but Chef Monroe is as irresistible as the food he creates. There's no denying the attraction between them. As he helps her nurture her natural talent, her past reappears with a vengeance. Tempers flare, buttons are pushed and when push comes to shove, everything may be lost in the heat of the moment. Note: This ends in a cliffhanger. Parts Two, Three, and Four will be released within the next few weeks.

Hanleigh's Review!
Deborah Bladon is a very talented author, and she's one of my all time favourites. Her books have a tendency to be super dramatic with awesome cliffhangers that keep you on the edge of your seat until the next part of the series comes out... seriously she almost gives me heart attacks on a monthly basis. This book was no exception to the rule.

I loved it from the very first line and if I'm completely honest with you I knew I would before I read the book. See I read a sneak peek at the back of one of Bladon's earlier books and that opening sentence had stuck in my mind, reminding me that this book was going to be one worth reading. "I once had one in my mouth twice that size." That's a fantastic first line. I've read a ridiculous amount of articles, blogs and books on how to write, especially that dreaded first chapter and they all say that you need a powerful first line and I've never come across one quite so... exuberant and thought provoking... lol, if that's the word for it.

I loved the characters in this book. There's competition, arrogance, and there's a secret mystery at the centre of the whole thing; who is Cadence Sutton??? The options are turning over in my head. Literally there are thousands and I've considered them all (I think) since I put the book down at quarter to three this morning. Yes, yet again, I allowed another of Bladon's book stop me getting my beauty sleep. Cadence is a pretty cool character though, even though she clearly has more money than she appears and she's got this big secret... perhaps to do with the mother she has to text every Sunday to confirm she's still alive? I'm almost berating her in my head when she first starts a relationship with Tyler though. Hadn't she learnt anything from her relationship with Brendon? As for Tyler, I really don't think I've gotten to know him properly yet. I'm waiting to get to know him better and I'm sure he probably has a secret or two too. They always do.

Then just as I thought I was about to learn what Cadence's secret was; I was finally going to learn who this character actually was, and then boom, it all changes in true Bladon style and I'm left with a cliff hanger like no other and more questions than answers and a desire to read part two that will not be quenched until... well I don't know when... sometime in the next few weeks. All in all though, I've got to give Deborah Bladon her dues, yet again she's set on a path to make me fall in love a little with Tyler, become best friends with Cadence and sit on tenterhooks until I can finally find some closure with their story.

I love this book and so I give it five out of five stars.
