Author: Charlotte Byrd

Synopsis: When Chloe get her first wardrobe stylist job, she meets an arrogant and self-absorbed movie star, Finn Dalton. Finn is People’s Sexiest Man Alive and everyone thinks he’s a God, but Chloe doesn’t get it. He’s hot. His body looks like it had been chiseled from stone. But his attitude definitely needs an adjustment. Finn is a famous and gorgeous playboy. He’s surrounded by women, but not the kind you can bring as a date to the Governor’s Ball. When he reaches out to Dolly Monroe, a billionaire matchmaker, she sets him up with the one girl who seems to be impervious to his charms. Quickly, Chloe and Finn get locked in a game of seduction. But games of love are dangerous games to play…
This story is something different from any of the other books I've read. It almost seemed unbelievable that a third person in a story, a so called extra could be so tangible to the plot line. Without Dolly Monroe there is no story here and yet we barely see her at all. she's the fairy godmother of the alpha male genre. Finn and Chloe are pretty awesome too. I enjoyed this book quite a lot. My only issue was that it was too slow paced. I've found that with a few of Byrd's books. I seem to want to skim certain bits but other than that it was amazing. I loved watching them fall in love. If I could give half stars this would tots be a 3.5 star book.
Synopsis: My life crashed and burned two years ago, and now I'm a stripper--a very bad one. Worse, I'm in debt to a dangerous man who orders me to seduce a billionaire prodigy. Except why would a guy as handsome and rich as Elliot Reed want me, a girl with no education, no prospects, and a younger sister to feed? But Elliot is more than the incorrigible bad boy that the world sees. He is kind to my sister and looks at me like I'm a decadent dessert he wants to devour. When Elliot offers me money for sex, I wish I could walk away, but he ups the ante: a million dollars for one year of marriage. The man's gotta be insane, but beggars with less than a hundred bucks in the bank can't be choosers, and I want to give my sister a life better than my own. Now, trapped between a man who controls my future and a man who could own my heart, I wonder if I haven't screwed up my life even worse when my "husband" refuses to call me by my given name, and I run into my ugly past...and his.
I knew I'd enjoy reading this story even before opening my kindle app. I'd read the book before it in the series and had heard the hints alluding to this brother's story and I really couldn't wait to read it. I wasn't dissappointed either. It was just as good as I imagined. Annabelle is offered a deal. It goes against everything she believes to be right but she decides the best thing to do is to accept the deal - she'd do anything if it was in the best interest of her sister. Ethan needs to marry to get his inheritance but in an act of rebellion he decides to marry a stripper. There's a lot of pain and history in this book. Ethan won't even use Annabelle's name. The characters are complex and exciting. There's a beautiful plotline and a fantastic cliff hanger at the end. Nadia Lee is an author like no other and this is just one more amazing book on her list of awesomeness.
bestselling author, Deborah Bladon. Landing a job at Manhattan's trendiest restaurant is everything Cadence Sutton wants. After leaving her ex-boyfriend behind, she's ready to focus on her career and Nova is the place to do that. Tyler Monroe is the chef of the moment. Everyone wants a piece of him and when he returns to New York City following his successful book tour, he's eager to take over the day-to-day operations of his restaurant. Cadence knows the complications that come with mixing business with pleasure, but Chef Monroe is as irresistible as the food he creates. There's no denying the attraction between them. As he helps her nurture her natural talent, her past reappears with a vengeance. Tempers flare, buttons are pushed and when push comes to shove, everything may be lost in the heat of the moment. Note: This ends in a cliffhanger. Parts Two, Three, and Four will be released within the next few weeks.
Deborah Bladon is a very talented author, and she's one of my all time favourites. Her books have a tendency to be super dramatic with awesome cliffhangers that keep you on the edge of your seat until the next part of the series comes out... seriously she almost gives me heart attacks on a monthly basis. This book was no exception to the rule.
I loved it from the very first line and if I'm completely honest with you I knew I would before I read the book. See I read a sneak peek at the back of one of Bladon's earlier books and that opening sentence had stuck in my mind, reminding me that this book was going to be one worth reading. "I once had one in my mouth twice that size." That's a fantastic first line. I've read a ridiculous amount of articles, blogs and books on how to write, especially that dreaded first chapter and they all say that you need a powerful first line and I've never come across one quite so... exuberant and thought provoking... lol, if that's the word for it.
I loved the characters in this book. There's competition, arrogance, and there's a secret mystery at the centre of the whole thing; who is Cadence Sutton??? The options are turning over in my head. Literally there are thousands and I've considered them all (I think) since I put the book down at quarter to three this morning. Yes, yet again, I allowed another of Bladon's book stop me getting my beauty sleep. Cadence is a pretty cool character though, even though she clearly has more money than she appears and she's got this big secret... perhaps to do with the mother she has to text every Sunday to confirm she's still alive? I'm almost berating her in my head when she first starts a relationship with Tyler though. Hadn't she learnt anything from her relationship with Brendon? As for Tyler, I really don't think I've gotten to know him properly yet. I'm waiting to get to know him better and I'm sure he probably has a secret or two too. They always do.
Then just as I thought I was about to learn what Cadence's secret was; I was finally going to learn who this character actually was, and then boom, it all changes in true Bladon style and I'm left with a cliff hanger like no other and more questions than answers and a desire to read part two that will not be quenched until... well I don't know when... sometime in the next few weeks. All in all though, I've got to give Deborah Bladon her dues, yet again she's set on a path to make me fall in love a little with Tyler, become best friends with Cadence and sit on tenterhooks until I can finally find some closure with their story.
I love this book and so I give it five out of five stars.

*THE BILLIONAIRE’S WEDDING Cole and Abby leave the city behind for a quick visit to the Kerrigan family's beach house in Connecticut, where their friends and family have gathered for a very small, very private, very secret wedding!
This is serial romance at it's best. I absolutely adore the characters. Abby Waters and Cole Kerrigan have sexual tension from the very beginning and I love the opening line: "Anyone with half a brain would probably tell you that falling in love with your boss is the worst possible thing you could do in the business world." She's a girl just like you or me, with a painful memory or two and a quick mouth. She's sarcastic and funny and you can't help but love her and as for Cole.... well hello, you can be my boss any day Mr Kerrigan. In an interesting turn of events not only is their relationship a secret but even her employment has a level of secrecy; her best friend doesn't even know who her boss is.
They both want each other but they both see limitations. She knows that a relationship with her boss is the end of her job but she didn't expect it to happen quite as it did and he's never been a "FOREVER" sort of guy. In typical guyishness he hurts her and badly.
This book was a great read. It was easy going and perfect to read after work. The only thing I found a bit difficult was the weird third person narrative. It was too personal, to experiential, almost like the book was secretly in first person but just hiding behind the words she, he and they. I enjoyed reading this book but this haphazard feeling messed a bit with the flow of words. It wasn't a constant issue and it would definitely not hinder my reading the next book - something I started doing immediately after finishing this one last night.
For so many reasons, I give this book four stars. It's definitely a book all you romance lovers should read.
most recent breakup, Becca locked her heart away and retreated into the safe distance that following other people’s relationships afforded her. *Note: Reading The Billionaire's Desire: The Complete Series prior to reading this book is recommended.*
Cassie Cross is a relatively new author for me. Literally a couple of days ago I read the first book in this series and fell in love with Cross' books. I downloaded the sequel immediately and cracked on with reading it and I'm happy to tell you I wasn't disappointed.
This book had it all. Alpha male Tristan Blackwell was exactly what I wanted. A bit of a player, parting a bit too hard and genuinely FIT! A big thing in this book was Tristan's relationship with his family; it was honest and raw and completely heart wrenching. As if that's not enough the way that Cross manages to make friendship fucking hot is something to be impressed with. Seriously if I wanted to fuck a friend as much as Tristan and Becca want each other.... well let's just say I wouldn't have had their self control.
Becca is a pretty cool character too. She's funny, sarcastic and pretty much awesome. She's a little whimsy but that works. Just like in real life their issues threaten to pull them apart. It makes this book all the realer; it perfectly displays the need for trust in your relationships not to mention boundaries. We should all know where we stand.
How many stars would I give this book? Tots in for the five.
Synopsis: I was always the good girl. Then when the pressure became too much, I took off and found me a bad boy. Niko. The hot, British rock star and frontman of the Halos. He took my angel wings and gave me a lot of things, well, everything but the Big O. And fidelity. So with my #fail in hand, I did the worst thing imaginable. I went home. The insta-nagging, criticism, and impossible expectations reminded me why my life #sucked—the reason I left in the first place. Well, everything was the same except for JQ, my high school crush. With a snug T-shirt and jeans that fit in all of the right places, it looks like he became man and maybe it was time for me to become a woman.
#Kissing is a sexy, rock star romance for new adult, college, and contemporary romance readers who enjoy love stories with an HEA. Author's note: #KISSING is a full-length, standalone novel. Due to strong language and content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
This book is about so many different things you’ll be lost in its pages for hours and hours. It has a very clear and unique voice. It’s about loss and pain but it’s also about love and friendship. It’s about sex and the constant search for not just okay or good sex but great sex. It’s about losing and finding yourself. It’s about hope and foolishness. It’s about stupidity and trust. It’s about music and talent.
Josie was brought up under pressure and the expectations that were weighing on her turned out to be just too much for her so she ran. She ran right into the arms of Niko, a hot rock star with a British accent. I automatically almost disliked him, which is quite impressive because usually I fall for musicians and when I say I fall I mean I fall hard. It might have had something to do with the fail that was their sex life or perhaps it was his constant disappearing act, I’m not sure, but I wasn’t his biggest fan. I didn’t hate him but right from the off it was clear that he wasn’t Josie’s forever; although Brixton almost terrified me a couple of times on that count.
I liked Josie. She was always hiding behind an act so I almost felt like I might not know her at all and as if that wasn’t painful enough I got to watch her make bad choice after bad choice after bad choice. I struggled with her from time to time. There were moments when I thought she was a bit weak and needed to get a bit of a back bone but then she’d surprise me and do something thoughtful or potentially thoughtless that changed my mind completely. By the end of the book, I loved her to bits, like a little sister I just want to drag away from her god-awful mother.
This book as well as being a love story is a story a young woman finding herself and growing up. It’s never a good read unless you watch your characters change and grow into better people. As for Josie’s love interest and best friend JQ, Brixton gave herself a bit of a challenge. She introduced us to him in quite an imaginative way. He replaced the one thing that Josie was searching for; the Big O, and in doing so she made him that much more important. Without a face to face introduction until quite a bit later, she made me fall in love with an almost complete stranger. Usually you meet your male protagonist in the first few chapters; but not in this book and I got to say that as much as that is makes a bit of a challenge for any author, Brixton met the challenge with a brilliance worth noting.
All in all, I think it’s pretty clear I loved this book. It was absolutely worth reading and I would not hesitate to recommend it. It’s #amazeballs and so I’m totally giving it five out of five stars.
Synopsis: From New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, Deborah Bladon. Obsessed - Part One Independent jewelry designer, Ivy Marlow, had it all - the man, the security and the ring. Now, all she has to her name are a broken engagement, the crushing worry of a flailing business and the haunting feeling of complete betrayal. The last thing Ivy expected to find attending a posh New York art show, was him. Jax Walker is everything she doesn't need but can't resist. He's gorgeous, brazen, unapologetic and powerful. He becomes the escape Ivy has been craving and longing for. He knows what she needs, anticipates her desires and offers it all to her, but at what price? What once seemed to be a chance encounter designed by fate becomes more enigmatic than the man himself. Jax is full of secrets and Ivy is about to learn that his obsession for her runs deeper and darker than she ever imagined.
Obsessed - Part Two When Ivy first met Jax, she knew he was everything she wanted, but she didn't need. She couldn't have been more right. She thought she was done with the lies, the secrets and the betrayals, but her past is inescapable, no matter how hard she tries. That pain that she once thought was buried forever is slowly starting to resurface and it may just be too much for her already fragile heart to take. If there's one thing that Ivy loves most about Jax, it's his relentless need for control. He does everything he can to win her back and to prove that there's more to him than his past demons. He swears he's a changed man, but can a man like Jax ever really change? As Ivy begins to believe in Jax again, an unexpected secret tears her world apart. Past lovers return, schemes are exposed and Ivy is left standing in the center of it all.
Obsessed - Part Three Ivy wanted Jax to be the man of her dreams. After all the lies, the mysteries and the manipulations she was ready to start on the path towards a new beginning. That all came to a crashing halt that blindsided them both. The images that flashed across his computer screen are burned forever in her memory. They're inescapable and the only way out of the darkness leads straight back to him. She knows what she saw. He knows what he believes. Will his unending drive to possess her push her away forever? As Ivy puts the pieces of her shattered life back together, she's confronted with a reality she never saw coming. Is she strong enough to find her way to the truth? And who will be waiting for her when she gets there?
Still Obsessed - Part Four The end is here... Life couldn't have been more idealistic for Ivy Marlow. She owned the business of her dreams, worked alongside the man she loved, and her future was bright and filled with unending promise. Looks can be deceiving though and as much as she loved her life, she knew that she and Jax Walker were destined for a collision course if something didn't change. Destiny stepped in and one fateful night on a dark street, everyone's life transformed in a profound way. Ivy is tossed back into the past she thought was behind her and Jax is determined to reclaim what was rightfully his. What neither of them could have predicted is that life doesn't let you plan your own course. Sometimes you have to let fate take you by the hand so you can find your true destiny. Is Ivy's future with Jax or will the ghosts of her past destroy them forever?
This was the very first book I read by Deborah Bladon and it was the book that led to me reading every book she’s ever written. Obsessed was absolutely brilliant. Ivy Marlow is young and independent. She’s a jewellery designer and she’s engaged to the supposed love of her life. But it all falls through when the engagement is broken off. She’s devastated by his betrayal but then she meets Jax Walker and her world is literally turned upside down. She can’t resist him; literally. He’s hot – like sooo hot. He’s powerful and relentless.
But Jax is also keeping secrets, secrets that threaten to destroy them. Problem is it’s not just Jax that’s got secrets. There are secrets in Ivy’s past that even she doesn’t know about. Jax is ridiculously intense and hot. I mean he actually says “your pleasure was all mine,” and I was sat there wishing he was saying it to me instead of Ivy. Soz Ivy... As much as I like you, I’d fight you for Jax any day. Bladon might actually be the queen of the cliff hanger, so be prepared for heart break at some point but I promise she always pulls the happy ending out of her hat in the end.
The title Obsessed is so promising and this book doesn’t fail to deliver. This is the book that opens up a whole world of characters that Bladon has created for your enjoyment. Jax’s obsessions collided with one another in this awesome saga of love, betrayal and perhaps most importantly obsession.
This book deserves five out of five stars.
Synopsis: Part One Harvard student, Sadie Lockwood, was given a second chance and she's determined to make it count. As Sadie sets out on a journey to pull back the layers of Hunter's emotional façade, she begins to question the very heart that beats within her. Will shedding her own inhibitions help Sadie to accept the man she craves or will everything change once all is exposed?
Part Two Hunter was everything Sadie always wanted. He was powerful, dominant, gorgeous and, most of all, he wanted her exactly as she was. When she threw caution to the wind and jumped into his bed, she believed that her life was finally beginning. She was ready to start living and he was the one person she knew she could trust with her heart. That was until she found out that Hunter had owned her heart all along. Is her heart strong enough to accept the unavoidable truth?
Part Three Hunter changed Sadie's entire life. After discovering his connection to her past, she was ready to let go and embrace her new life. That one fateful night in Manhattan changed it all. After seeing Hunter for who he really is, Sadie must face painful truths about his past and their present. Her heart is pushing her in one direction. Her mind is pulling her towards a different path. Will Hunter's eventual confession change everything? As Sadie tries to accept who Hunter really is, she's forced to confront realities she never knew existed. She believes she's ready for it all, but is her heart strong enough?
More Exposed - Part Four Sadie Lockwood thought she had the perfect life. She loved Hunter Reynolds, she was studying to be a doctor, and her entire future was planned out. Everything was going her way. It all shattered when Hunter's past collided with their future. The one secret he kept from her barreled back into their lives, crushing everything in its path. It shattered all they held dear and it threatened them both in ways they never imagined it would. Hunter was everything she ever wanted. He told her he couldn't breathe without her. What happens when her very breath is stolen because of that love?
Sadie Lockwood owes her life to someone she’s never met and has decided to make it count. Everything is planned out. She’s studying medicine at Harvard and she refuses to let anything to deter her course. This is another one of those alpha male stories; he’s dominant, powerful, HOT, controlling... but as always the characters’ pasts collide in the most unbelievable way; what were the chances? Can you call it fate? I totally would.
This book literally broke me. Every time a little bit of the truth came out and Sadie was that little bit more exposed and Hunter turned out to be lying that little bit more my heart broke and broke and broke again. The plot is so completely different to anything I’d read before.
I felt cut in two; one side I loved Hunter and on the other I just couldn’t completely trust him. It’s easy reading at its best. It’s another serial so be ready for cliff hangers galore but it’s well worth reading; these two characters have stayed with me for years now and I still think back to them often now that Bladon’s world of characters has grown so much.
What if it was the offer of a lifetime? The sort of offer that would make you blush as he offered you whatever you wanted to make you accept. What if the offers were so spicy, so naughty, so scandalous that you wouldn’t even want to tell your best friend? If you were me, you would say yes. There are three things you should know. His name is TJ Walker. He’s 28, hot as can be and he’s my brother’s best friend. TJ asked me to be his fiance for four weeks. I’m hoping to make the engagement real. I know. I can’t believe it either. What am I thinking? There are so many things that could go wrong by accepting to be TJ’s four week fiance? But, I can’t stop thinking that there are also so many things that could go right.
My Four Week Fiance is beyond amazing. I loved it. Mila is a bit childish but I can live with that. Mila and Sally her best friend aim to make TJ jealous but then he shows up with a girl... “Barbie...” It’s a whirl wind from the beginning with fake engagements and awesome plot lines that leave you sizzling. TJ is everything I love; hot, sex on legs, a billionaire, a bit of a player, everything that threatens to ruin me. It was all games and ulterior motives.
Nonno is one of the highlights of this book. His character is amazing and his connection to the story is hidden until the last moment.
My favourite thing about this book is the way it proves that love acts. TJ, Nonno... all they want is to love her and protect her. This book surprised me and I like to believe that isn’t easily done. I almost hated the characters at time and struggled not to wake the house up when I was reading late at night and TJ and Mila did something to irritate me. I cried, I laughed, I smiled, I frowned, I almost shouted, screamed... you get the picture. This is definitely one for you to read.
I really loved this book. It had a great combination of everything; humour, romance, sexual tension, drama... The ending was very sweet. And quite emotive – like enough to make me sob.
Synopsis: SPARK is the second part of HEAT, a four-part novella series from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Deborah Bladon. Cadence Sutton was living the life she always wanted. She was working at Nova beside Manhattan's sexiest chef and at night, she was the woman sharing his bed. Life changed in an instant and when Chef Tyler Monroe lost it all, Cadence was there to help him pick up the pieces. As they work together to rebuild Tyler's shattered life, Cadence realizes that she may be sacrificing more than she wants. Can she really have it all or will someone from her past change her future forever?
Spark didn’t quite start where I expected it too but strangely that works. Its three days after the fire. There’s a horrible, mellow, numb feeling in Bladon’s writing in the opening chapter. There’s distance that wasn’t there before and every good thing tastes bittersweet. It’s fantastically written and completely heartbreaking. Everything is up in the air; Tyler’s dreams are at risk and Cadence and Tyler’s relationship seems to be walking on a tight rope. He has moments of complete and utter jerkiness like that time that he just presumed she’s a whore... seriously?
This book made me realise just how much we don’t completely know these characters yet. There’s a lot about Tyler that’s still unknown and as for Cadence, she has a really big secret – which I think I’ve worked out – but as always the boy’s got it wrong again...
If there is one thing you can always count on Bladon for it’s the god awful cliff-hanger. She loves to leave us all with hearts racing, tears falling and general brokenness. Cadence has options which is something I like. She’s not quick to open up and you can’t help but love her for her independence. Even at the end of this book, when it all seems lost I’m not worried about her. She’s going to be okay, even if her heart is left destroyed she will be absolutely fine. That doesn’t mean I’m waiting patiently for the next book. I’m not. I’m 100% impatient.
Also what the heck about Maribel?? Didn’t see that one coming. Personally, I think Cadence shouldn’t be working with Tyler if she wants their relationship to work. I also can’t wait to find out if I’m right about the cliff hanger...
Hanleigh loves books. She always has. She loves getting lost inside their pages. When she reads a book she loves to share it with her friends.
